SmartGate reaches new highs in winter holidays

An aeroplane

The first week of the school holidays was the second highest week on record with 82,748  passengers successfully using SmartGate. The busiest week with over 84,000 passengers occurred during the traditional summer peak earlier this year.

Since lowering the eligible age to 12 years, more families have using been using SmartGate and we expect to see these numbers increase as all New Zealanders and Australians will have ePassports by the end of the year.
